Land Grabbing Victims To Sue McDan

Two land grabbing victims have decided to sue businessman, Daniel McKorley, alias McDan, for forcibly taking over their lands in the prime area of East Legon in Accra.

The two — Madam Theresa Paintsil who is a widow, and Charles Oppong Kyekyeku, a businessman— have decided to resort to the courts for redress because all attempts to stop McDan, who is the Founder and CEO of McDan Group of Companies from developing the lands had failed.

Legal acquisition
Available documents show that Madam Theresa Paintsil took ownership of the land when her husband, Dr Nicholas Geraldo who originally bought the land, died in 2012. Charles Oppong Kyekyeku, however, bought his land and secured title to it before McDan trespassed.

Illegal entry
Without the knowledge of Madam Theresa Paintsil, McDan entered the land and started developing it.
All efforts to have him stop the illegal development failed as he used his political connections to threaten the widow.

In 2015, McDan prepared a Settlement Agreement, in a bid to get Madam Theresa Paintsil to sign. In the agreement, McDan was to pay a paltry GHc 200,000 to the woman as cost of the land, which at the time was valued at $500,000.

However the woman refused to sign the documents.
