Even the cats and dogs in our (MPs) houses are fed more than GHc1.80 a day – Muntaka decries inadequate feeding grant for prisoners

Minister of Interior designate, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak has decried the inadequate feeding grant for prisoners in the country.

He said the current feeding grant of GHc1. 80 a prisoner per day is woefully inadequate and needed an urgent relook.

Appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Friday, January 24, the Mubarak said, “even those of us here, we feed our dogs and cats in our homes with more than GHc1.80″.

He, therefore assured that the issue would be looked at when he resumes office.

Muntaka, who is the MP for Asawase, thanked the Church of Pentecost for constructing prisons in the country to help reduce congestion. He also said the church’s agriculture project is contributing to address feeding challenges of inmates.
