Renowned sports journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah appointed NSA Director General

President John Mahama has appointed renowned sports journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah as the new Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

It is a first in Ghanaian sport due to Ankrah’s extensive experience and robust interest in developing sport.

Successful journalist with global recognition, Ankrah is equally renowned for taking Beach Soccer in Ghana to the international scene.

He has contributed greatly to the country’s sporting sector over the years, emerging as a professional and innovative reputation personality who is highly respected.

His stay at the NSA will most likely bring much-needed reforms and adjustments, especially in Ghana’s sporting infrastructure administration.

Mr. Ankrah will work hand-in-hand with Sports and Recreation Minister Hon. Kofi Adams to develop and coordinate sporting events in Ghana.

His main concern will be enhancing national sports management systems, national cohesion through sport, and promoting professionalism.

His appointment follows a critical period when the NSA has been under attack for being unable to maintain the standards of national stadia.

With his journalism background and vast knowledge in sports administration, Ankrah has a tough but optimistic journey ahead as he attempts to win the heart of the NSA and enhance the sports activity in Ghana.
