NPP’s Bawumia Warns Against Factionalism, Blames 2024 Loss on Disunity

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged members of the NPP to avoid verbal attacks and divisive behaviour during the upcoming campaign for party positions.

He warned that a to do so could have serious consequences for the party in the 2028 elections, similar to what was experienced in 2024.

Dr. Bawumia made the statement at the conclusion of the party’s National Thank You Tour in the Eastern Region on Sunday. The tour is set to continue in the Greater Accra Region today.

2024 Defeat

Reflecting on the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections, the former Vice President and presidential candidate explained that the NDC capitalized on some statements made by NPP members to gain an advantage. “In the last three weeks of the 2024 campaign, the NDC played videos of NPP members making disparaging remarks about our party, and this worked against us,” he noted.

He emphasized, “When we are united, we can win the 2028 elections.”

NDC Lies

Dr. Bawumia also stated that the NDC primarily used lies to secure their victory. “The NDC is in power now, but soon Ghanaians will recognize the falsehoods they spread,” he said.

Enthusiasm

He expressed delight at the remarkable enthusiasm shown in the Eastern Region, which, like the other 13 regions visited so far, indicates a strong commitment to restoring the party to its rightful place in the region.
