Market Leadership at Kantamanto Rejects Claims of Mishandling Funds Post-Fire

The leadership of Kantamanto Market has denied allegations of misappropriating donations from corporate bodies and benevolent individuals following the recent fire outbreak at the market.

This comes in response to accusations made by a group known as the Concerned Market Members of Kantamanto Secondhand Clothing Sellers, who have called for the immediate resignation of the market’s 13-member leadership.

According to the group, the leaders are allegedly pursuing personal interests at the expense of the market’s welfare, a situation they claim is threatening the future of the secondhand clothing trade.

n an interview with Channel One News on Friday, April 4, Market Manager Adutwum Atta Manu dismissed the allegations, stressing that all funds have been handled transparently.

He added that a meeting will be held in two weeks to provide a detailed account of how the donated funds have been utilized.

“We will call a meeting to discuss the money that was received and the remaining. All the money that we have received is not with us but with one of the importers. We had a committee which he is part of.”

He explained that the committee was responsible for overseeing all funds received and that proper accountability would be given during the upcoming meeting.

“A committee was formed, and all the money received was kept by the committee. Yes, we have a committee. We haven’t been able to complete the forms. On the 21st of February, we had a meeting as a committee to discuss how much has been used from the donated money and the remaining.” he concluded.
