Legal Battle Begins: Nana B vs. Government Over Mass Revocation of Youth Appointments in Ghana

The National Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye has served notice that he will head to court to defend thousands of Ghanaian youth whose employment have been terminated by President John Dramani Mahama.

A confidential letter, signed by Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah to heads of government institutions, requested them to take the necessary steps to annul any recruitment and appointment made after December 7, 2024, and submit a comprehensive report on the actions taken to his office by February 17, 2025.

Backlash
The directive has received a backlash from many Ghanaians. Henry Nana Boakye, alias Nana B, has in a statement described the action of the government as unconstitutional. “Where from this attempt to terminate legitimate and lawful appointments of hard working Ghanaian youth who have complied with due process of law to secure their appointments.

“Has the President so soon forgotten that he also swore to submit himself to the laws of Ghana?”
He told the President to know, that there is no legal ground for terminating any appointment known as “good governance practices and principles”.

Notice
“Notice is hereby served, that I shall head to the Court to defend these young people and remind the President that his oath was to defend the Constitution and not to abuse it.

“My Lawyers, Nana Baffour Awuah Esq and Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei should stand ready to defend the Constitution.”
