Ayew Family Owes a Lot to My Father, Jordan Shares

Ghana international Jordan Ayew has praised the influence of his father, Abedi Pele, on the football careers of his brothers.

Having made a name for himself in both African and European football, Abedi Pele’s children – Ibrahim, Andre, and Jordan – have also carved out successful careers in the sport.

Jordan and Andre both followed in their father’s footsteps by playing for his former club, Olympique Marseille, before moving to the Premier League.

Currently at Leicester City, Jordan, who has made over 300 Premier League appearances, spoke about the important role his parents have played in his life.

“My Dad has done a lot for not only me, but my whole family. It’s not easy to come after your father in a sense of the expectations being so high back home and even in Europe,” he told the club’s website.

“I think me my brother and I have coped really well with it and tried to focus on ourselves and ensure that we had our own journey.”

Reflecting on the support from his mother, he added, “My Mum tells me that, but mums are always positive! Personally, that’s how I feel, that my parents can be proud of the journey me and my brother have made.”

As captain of the Black Stars, Jordan is confident that both he and Andre still have plenty to offer in the game.

“There’s still more to come from us, and hopefully we can give them more moments to enjoy,” he continued.

Jordan Ayew is set to feature for Leicester City in their upcoming Premier League match against Brighton at the AMEX Stadium on Saturday.
