Selassie Brown speaks on her album ‘My Compensation’

Ghanaian gospel musician Selassie Brown has unveiled her latest album, ‘My Compensation,’ a soul-stirring project inspired by the biblical promise of divine reward.

The ten-track album, which took nearly two years to put together, is a musical testimony of faith, resilience, and God’s unwavering promises to His people.

Speaking on Asaase Radio’s Artsy, Selassie Brown shared the inspiration behind the album title, citing a passage in Isaiah that speaks about God’s commitment to giving double blessings for every trouble.

She explained that the album serves as a reminder that those who diligently seek God—through fasting, giving, service, and unwavering faith—will be duly rewarded.

A carefully curated album with power-packed collaborations

‘My Compensation’ features a mix of powerful worship and praise songs, with four collaborative efforts, including an international feature with Nigerian gospel sensation Ema Onyx, known for his hit song ‘You Carry Me.’ Other featured artists include Akese Brempong, KobbySalm, adding variety and depth to the album’s sound.

Selassie Brown revealed that her manager played a key role in securing these collaborations, ensuring that each song resonates deeply with listeners. The album also includes diverse musical styles, from contemporary worship to reggae and traditional Pentecostal praise, offering something for every gospel music lover.

Songs that uplift and inspire

Among the standout tracks on the album are Blessing Alert, Miracle Working God (which has both an original and a reggae version), and Hallelujah, a vibrant praise song perfect for celebrations, including weddings and parties.

“Hallelujah is a testimony song,” she said. “Whenever there is good news in your life, this is the song to sing.”

For Selassie Brown, songwriting is inspired by life experiences and the need to share God’s message of hope and gratitude. While her manager is a prolific songwriter who contributes significantly to her music, she also takes an active role in writing some of her songs, ensuring that each piece reflects her personal journey and faith.

A humble yet impactful journey

Selassie Brown, beyond her music, is also a television host, producer, and voice-over artist. Her ability to balance multiple roles speaks to her dedication to spreading the gospel across various platforms.

Having officially launched ‘My Compensation’ recently, she now focuses on promoting the album, trusting that it will reach and touch hearts globally. “This album is not just music; it’s an evangelism tool,” she stated. “It’s meant to bring people closer to God and inspire them to be better.”

Expressing her gratitude, Selassie Brown extended heartfelt appreciation to her management team, Gold Legacy Music, her collaborators, and key industry figures who have supported her journey. She also acknowledged Asaase Radio for providing a platform to share her music.
