Mahama’s 17 Northern MMDCE Nominees for Ashanti Ignite Protests

In an unprecedented move within the Fourth Republic, President John Dramani Mahama has nominated as many as 17 individuals of northern extraction for Municipal and District Chief Executive (MDCE) positions in the Ashanti Region.

The development has sparked outrage in some circles, with many questioning the President’s decision to appoint such a large number of northerners over qualified Asantes within the NDC.
