Ghana’s Independence Anniversary Brings Kufuor and Akufo-Addo Together

Former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo attended the 68th Independence Anniversary Celebration at the Jubilee House on Thursday.

This marked Nana Akufo-Addo’s first appearance to the seat of the Presidency since leaving office on January 7, 2025. Both former Presidents sat together with President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Ahyemand at the presidential dais during the event.

Praise
Many praised the two leaders, both from the NPP, for demonstrating statesmanship by attending the ceremony.

Akufo-Addo, who recently left office, was commended for his deep love for Ghana and his unwavering commitment to the nation by participating in the celebration alongside President Kufuor.
This stands in stark contrast to former President Mahama, who boycotted all Independence Day celebrations following his defeat in the 2020 election.
