Desmond Ofei appointed Black Stars assistant coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the appointment of Desmond Ofei as the new assistant coach of the Black Stars, in a bid to strengthen the team’s technical staff.

Mr. Ofei, who is the head coach of the national U-20 team, the Black Satellites, steps into his new role following a series of impressive achievements.

He replaces Joseph Laumann as one of the assistant coaches of Otto Addo.

Under his leadership, the Black Satellites claimed the African Games title and triumphed in the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament, earning widespread praise for his tactical expertise and ability to nurture young talent.

As assistant coach of the senior national team, Ofei is expected to infuse his winning mentality, dynamic coaching approach, and deep understanding of player development into the Black Stars.

His appointment comes at a crucial time, with Ghana gearing up for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, which starts in March.

Meanwhile, Joseph Paintsil has been retained as one of the assistants for Otto Addo along with Goalkeepers trainer Fatau Dauda.
