Bechem United offers GH¢100 thousand bounty for Nana Pooley’s killer

Ghana Premier League side Bechem United has placed a GH¢100 thousand bounty on the killer of Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.

The club says the decision has become necessary as their team doctor, Dr Achau, is facing pressure from his family not to travel for away matches due to safety concerns.

“The management of Bechem United FC, led by Dr. Kingsley Owusu Achau, has placed a GHC 100,000 reward for anyone with credible information leading to the arrest of the suspect.”- the club said in a statement.

“Dr. Achau, who has been a dedicated presence, traveling with the team to almost all league centers, is now facing pressure from his family to stop these travels due to recent events.”

In their effort to combat hooliganism in football, Bechem United said it is determined to lead the fight against hooliganism.

“As part of our commitment to ensuring safety and order, we have immediately engaged an expert to install CCTV cameras at our stadium to monitor and deter any acts of violence.”

“Furthermore, we have sent a stern warning to our supporters that any act of hooliganism will result in a lifetime ban from attending our matches.

We call on law enforcement agencies, football administrators, supporters, and the general public to join forces in this crucial effort.”

Ghana Police has identified the suspect behind the stabbing of the fan, as per Asante Kotoko’s Communication Director, Sarfo Duku,
