Armed Criminals Keep Exploiting Jimira Forest — Erastus Debunks Gov’t Triumph Claims

Broadcast journalist Erastus Asare Donkor, has challenged the government’s claims regarding the reclamation of the Jimira Forest Reserve from illegal miners.

Recently, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah announced that the government had successfully reclaimed seven out of nine forest reserves from illegal mining activities.

However, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 8, Erastus shared current photographs revealing significant devastation in Compartment 31 of the forest reserve located between Bonteaso and Adobewura.

He reported, “Armed thugs have been illegally mining in this area for weeks.”

According to him, although the authorities were informed when there were only a few excavators, no action was taken, and now their numbers have increased. “This is one of the reserves that the government claims to have taken back from illegal miners. Time is of the essence,” he said.
