I lost Ghc 40,000 in Bukom Boxing Arena show – OB Amponsah

Popular Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah reveals challenges in organising comedy events in Ghana.

Ghanaian comedian and event organiser OB Amponsah has disclosed the financial struggles he faces hosting comedy events, despite his growing popularity and achievements.

In a Hitz FM interview, OB shared that his recent Bukom Boxing Arena show left him with a GH₵40,000 loss, highlighting event-organizing challenges.

Despite setbacks, OB views investing in his craft as worthwhile. His 10th-anniversary comedy show in December 2024 filled the 4,000-capacity Bukom Boxing Arena.

OB criticised high taxes on ticket sales and Ghana Revenue Authority’s decision to tax complimentary tickets, calling it unfair and frustrating for organizers.

His revelations highlights the financial struggles Ghanaian comedians endure, showing how passion and persistence often outweigh profit in the comedy industry.
