Sammy Gyamfi Faces CHRAJ Probe After Citizen’s Wealth Allegations

A private citizen, Eric Dumenu Akatsi, has formally petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over what he describes as a suspicious display of wealth by Mr Samuel Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Goldbod.

The incident in question occurred on Saturday, 10th May 2025, when Mr Gyamfi was seen in widely circulated videos gifting bundles of US dollars to controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa while seated in his Range Rover.

In his petition, Mr Akatsi referenced Article 218(e) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which empowers CHRAJ to investigate alleged or suspected corruption and abuse of power by public officials.

“I write in my personal capacity and as a citizen of the Republic of Ghana with a civic duty,” he stated, expressing concern over what he deems potential financial impropriety.

He called particular attention to Mr Gyamfi’s conduct in the video, labelling the dollar-splashing act as “a perfectly clear instance of alleged engagement in suspected corruption.”

Mr Akatsi further alleged that Mr Gyamfi maintains two private bank accounts with Consolidated Bank Ghana — a dollar account and a cedi account — both containing amounts he described as “whopping sums of over One Hundred Million Ghana Cedi(s).”

According to the petition, these large deposits are a relatively recent development, with the accounts showing no such substantial inflows prior to Mr Gyamfi’s current political prominence.

“It is important to understand,” Akatsi argued, “that the accuracy of Mathematics leads to one irresistible conclusion — these are signs of suspected corruption.”

The petitioner has therefore urged CHRAJ to launch a full-scale investigation into the source of Mr Gyamfi’s wealth and the circumstances surrounding the dollar-gifting incident.

“I am verily aware and believe the same to be true that your office would give this petition the needed consideration and attention it deserves,” Akatsi concluded.

Neither Sammy Gyamfi nor Goldbod has yet publicly responded to the allegations at the time of this report.
